It’s a new year! What better way to start than to promote the Pantone Colour of the Year: Emerald Green!
I’m always the first to oppose the thought the grass is greener on the other side…but when it comes to decor and that grass is Emerald Green, I’ll gladly take a visit to greener pastures.
I love jewel tones and can’t wait to incorporate hits of green in future decorating and in my home staging projects.
I recently wrote a blog post for IDRC (Interior Decor Resources Canada) about the 2013 Pantone Colour of the Year and thought I’d repurpose some of the inspiring green accessories as well as some interiors I found that are workin’ the gorgeous emerald green shade. I hope they inspire you the way they’ve inspired me.
If you’re tempted to use this vibrant colour but are a bit paint shy…try emerald green with something that’s easily replaced: lamps, vases, small appliances, curtains or chairs. Even if you grow tired of the colour in a few years, it may bring you out of your shell and into…an Emerald City or at the very least, an emerald room!
Last September, I was on a buying trip with my client www.dot-furniture.com and when we saw this emerald green plaid egg chair…we just had to have it! Seems we were right on trend picking-up this piece for 20 DOT Furniture stores. We were thrilled when Pantone announced it as their 2013 ‘it colour‘. BTW, this replica egg chair retails for a mere $885, hands-down, the best priced egg chair in Toronto (and for those of you outside of the city…you can buy it online too!)…oh..AND that price it also comes with an ottoman! Egg chair creator Arne Jacobson would be honoured with this hip replica! Ideal for a mod man cave.
If you’re really daring, you may even try incorporating some emerald green into your 2013 wardrobe…a decorista (a.ka. DecoREISta), fashionista always likes to stay on-trend. Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but emerald fashions are this season’s hottest trend!
For 2013, no need to be green with envy…rather green with love!
